Jacob “Quist” Quistgaard
Quist started playing guitar at age 6 – moving to London in his teens to study at the then UK version of Musicians Institute (G.I.T), where he was awarded the title “Outstanding Guitarist of the Year” - after which he landed a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music. At the Academy, Quist studied under John Ashton Thomas (X-men, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda, Night at the Museum), amongst others. Having his recording debut for Sony Music Denmark whilst still studying, Quist has since had more than 30 of his tracks featured on Radio, TV and Film. He keeps a steady output of new music, with increasing emphasis on his love of music for moving pictures. Quist currently plays lead guitar for British rock legend Bryan Ferry. He currently also spends his time writing, producing and collaborating with other artists and songwriters in Los Angeles. He remains an active session guitarist, having appeared across the world at major festivals like Coachella and Glastonbury, venues like Royal Albert Hall and Abbey Road, on TV shows like Jools Holland, Jonathan Ross, BBC Breakfast and Le Grand Journal (in France) - working for labels like BMG, Decca, Polydor, Warner, Sony, Mercury, Universal, Ninja Tunes and Brownswood. His first book (on Rock Guitar) was released worldwide in many languages by Parragon in 2011 and Quist is also a regular contributor to Guitar Techniques Magazine. Quist is maintaining a steady output of original music and 'Jam Tracks' for his increasingly popular and fast-growing youtube channel QuistJam (over 21 million views) - as well as attending to ongoing session guitar duties for a host of UK, US and International artists & studios. Quist is about to release his instrumental album Trigger, which features recent Bryan Ferry collaborator Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd, Gary Moore), Dave De Rose (Mark Ronson), Cherisse Osei (Mika, Paloma Faith) as well as keys wizard/producer extraordinaire Magnus Fiennes and other top musicians. He will be releasing videos and tracks from the album throughout 2015 and 2016.
