 Super Plextortion
The Super Plextortion is an overdrive or distortion pedal that was originally designed to emulate a JCM800 (Back in Black era AC/DC tones through van halen, dokken, ratt, and all those amazing 80's rock "cranked Marshall" tones). The new "Super Plextortion" nails those tones AND gets you even more modern tones... looking for Vai in a box? This pedal comes as close as I've ever heard in any other pedal.

It has plenty of volume and has 3 gain settings - low, medium, and high gain settings on a switch as well as an independent gain control. The Super Plextortion differs from the standard Plextortion in that it has 3 totally different gain structures. It is a low gain pedal great for light dirt, a medium gain distortion and a higher gain distortion all in one pedal. It is more transparent than the standard plextortion where the standard plextortion has more of a mid focused marshally 'greenback' sound to it.

Basically, the super plextortion is more of a modern sounding distortion where the standard plextortion is more vintage sounding.

I've noticed that some guys like play their distortion pedals that emulate marshall tones THROUGH a marshall. Let's be honest - I can play a chorus pedal through a marshall and get a very "marshally" sounding chorus pedal... In my opinion this isn't a fair or accurate representation of a pedal. Because of this, I record my clips and videos through everyday affordable guitars and amps in order to be as accurate as possible.

Comparing the Super Plextortion and Standard Plextortion
The best way to put it was written by Jeff Baker of FrugalGuitarist... (http://www.frugalguitarist.com/ )

"The Plextortion offers a nice "late 1970s/early 1980s" Marshall sound, with a darker speaker voicing... The Super Plextortion is brighter, more aggressive, more forward in the midrange and treble, and has more gain on tap. However they overlap in some ways. The big difference is that the Plextortion, when used for higher gain stuff, still has a more classic kind of clipping, while the Super Plextortion has more modern clipping.

The Plextortion covers the range of Plexi---earlier JCM800 most comfortably. The Super Plextortion covers the range of later JCM800---JCM2000 DSL most comfortably. Both sound very nice, both have a flexible range of gain, but those are the ways I've found them to sound the best."
Customer Comments
"All I have to say is the Plextortion is BADASS!!!! I have already used on 3 songs in the Studio. And I use it a lot live."

"The plextortion sounded amazing Saturday night at my gig. I could not believe the sound. Thanks again for the great pedal."

"Brian, I just wanted to say that I am so pleased with my Plextortion. The other guitarist in the band knew immediately what it sounded like as he once played out of a Marshall JCM 800. Again, worth the wait but the Plextortion is just great."

"Brian....phenominal pedal! The controls are very sensitive (a good thing!) AND I cant get a bad sound out of it. I love being able to crank the volume on the distortion and keep the solo volume lower to get a nice thick grind! It's total Marshall-100%. -I've found my tone!- "

"This is the pedal I've been searching for for over ten years.... Even though it was modeled after a JCM 800, this pedal, so far, is the closest to getting those eighties George Lynch/Van Halen/Warren DiMartini modded Marshall tones I have ever heard."

"I play a Bogner Shiva who's clean channel is very particular about distortion pedals. I've tried everything under the sun to get those above mentioned tones.... To me they either don't have enough gain or sound too fizzy and everyone of them misses the essential element to what a true modded cranked plexi really sounds like - the midrange. You guys nailed it. If you listen to early Dokken like "the Hunter" and "In My Dreams", there's just a growl to the tones that no pedal has ever enabled to come through my amps until now. (same thing with that Angus Young plexi "bark" - sorry but the Box of Rock just doesn't get it and Zach Vex himself said it's not supposed to - based on a JTM 45 which is a different animal)"
