 Triple Wreck Distortion
The Triple Wreck high gain distortion pedal... designed to get that massively thick distortion through a clean amp!

Guaranteed to bring on 'teh broootaaalllzz'! Probably one of the tightest, thickest highest gain distortions you've ever heard... many people have told me that it sounds more like a 5150 amp to them, that may very well be - I designed it to just by an ass kicking distortion pedal, heavier than everything else, meaner than everything else, and it is...

Another cool feature is the boost switch. Click it on and the cream crunch knob takes you from even higher gain (waaaaaaaay high gain) to fuzzy smashing pumpkins-esque big muff pi type of tones (but with a 3 band eq). Of course, you can get the Gilmour BMP tones as well, but the only thing missing from this pedal are the devil horns ;)

ALL THINGS SAID HERE COME FROM MY VIEWPOINT WHICH IS TO SAY, YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY (YMMV):

Look what I got on my board today: THE WAMPLER TRIPLE WRECK!!!!! (said like Sadie)

It's my first full-on boutique pedal. It really cost me much to buy this but I HAVE NO REGRETS WHATSOEVER. The price I paid for the sound and happiness I get, is so much worth it. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to save up and buy another one just for the sake of back-up.

FIRST OF ALL, I don't buy pedals just because it has that "BOUTIQUE" label going with them - I buy them if they sound good and I have the moolah.

First impression: This pedal is huge!! But that's okay, I have space on my board and it looks cool.

Now for the sound:

As you all know, I'm a big fan of Mesa Boogie primarily because of my idol, John Petrucci. This is the reason why I got this pedal: It has been marketed and hyped as a Mesa Recto tone in a box.

THERE IS NO HYPE THERE. It's THE BONA FIDE Mesa Recto tones in a box (it can get Mark-ish on the vintage mode). Very close to Mesa (at least to my ears based from what I've been hearing in records, amp demonstrations in Youtube, and from the actual Dual Rectifier I heard before). I'm sure the real thing is different but this pedal comes so damn close to my ears that it can give you the satisfaction of being convinced that you have that elusive Mesa tone.

The great thing about it is that it doesn't get very flubby like the actual Mesa amp that I have when you raise the bass. It maintains that tightness and whatever you dial in, it is usually useable.

Currently, I am more into the vintage setting because it sounds moderately tight and loose - which is what I want.

Want Dream Theater tones? It's here.

Want Metallica tones? Easy.

Foo Fighters? You can dial it in.

Mark Tremonti's Dual Rec tone in Alter Bridge and Creed albums? Present!

Most importantly, my tone? It's here!!! \m/

Now, another great thing is that this pedal is SO SO EXPRESSIVE and RESPONSIVE to dynamics, your playing, your vibrato, etc. Even more than the MI Audio Tubezone (actually by 10 miles). I have so much fun playing through it that it feels and plays an actual amp distortion. Harmonics are so easy and comes and sounds out naturally.

Prior to having this, I have been watching lots of Youtube videos of the pedal. THEY ALL DON'T DO JUSTICE TO THIS PEDAL. Promise. It sounds way way way better than the videos online when you play it in person. It sounds much much more Mesa-ish live.

By the way, I'm running the pedal to a Mesa Boogie F-30 combo with a Vintage 30 speaker. That helps a lot but really, I think running this to any amp (especially tubed) with a fairly good clean tone and you'd still get excellent tones.

Thank you Brian Wampler for this great creation of yours! Every Philippine peso I paid for the pedal is worth it.

Thanks Richard Alconaba (BossingBoss) for shipping this in for me!

Much love people and rock on! \m/

I bought your Recstortion from Superior.  I used it last night and WOW!....now I don't need to bring my Mesa Roadster anymore.....
Thanks for the great products.......Let's see...now I use 8 of your pedals......

 Stubbyj on the gear page:

"Wampler did an outstandingly good job with this unit.

RIG: Typical Mexi strat (closest guitar at the time). Gibson 57 classic in the bridge and 2 anderson singles middle, neck. 3rec into RRR into Shiva clean hooked up to boger 4x12 with 4 vintage 30's.

I could go on in on, but simply put, if you are looking for high gain, I can't see one not being happy with this box.

What stood out (I must admit that I'm not a metal player):
1. Bass is stellar - tickled my ears as a live show - sounds lame, I know.
2. Mid toggle is very noticable and both tones are great iconic tones
3. Tons of gain
4. Pich harmonics beyond easy
5. Palm Muting sounds HUGE and VERY tight
6. Most tones VERY musical
7. Can achieve some good lower gain tones
8. Compared to my other higher gain pedals, this is more open
9. Controls VERY interactive and useful in all ranges

You will not toss out all you other high gainers, but I would think this box would surly see the most use. For those guys that cover radio play modern pop rock/rock, this thing is perfect (shinedown/alterbridge so on).

Lasty. I think I remember the site indicating that the circuit was very unique; not based on anyting else. I do believe this, for there is something special about the type of distortion (texture I think) this box produces."

Comments:  I received my Triple Recstortion today it is so nice to have a great distortion that still lets the individual notes stand out. This definitely is not like any other distortion pedal I have used, the note clarity and how well it reacts with the volume knob on my guitar is great. You did a great job with the design of this pedal.

Thank You
Mike

Brian,

I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you that I love the Triple Recstortion pedal.  I am running only a Bogner Shiva now and have missed my Mesa so much that I was thinking about getting one.  This pedal is so close to my old Mesa it’s scary.  Thanks so much for this pedal.  You should definitely make a full run of them.  Because this pedal is so good, I’ll probably pick up your Super Plextortion too.  Thanks again and I appreciate you taking the time to talk to us on TGP.
