Faux Tape Echo v2
Based on the hugely popular best seller of the previous models, the v2 offers the same purity of signal path, the same depth of tone on the repeats and most importantly, the addition of sub divisions on the tap tempo. With this, you can now have your delays come at ¼, 1/8, dotted 1/8 and triplet based on your tap tempo.
With our hybrid design (completely pure analog dry path with the digital delay layered on top) approach, you get the best of both worlds. You get the note clarity, much lower noise, and longer delay times from digital delays... You also get the lovely warmth and little exquisite touches that are usually reserved for analog delays. Nearly every part of the pedal, all of its major functions, are analog. The “delay line” is the only digital part of the signal path. It alone being digital brings clarity and focus to the task in a way that analog delay line chips can’t really match.
But everything else, all the absolutely vital filtering to carefully finish the sound is pure analog. Every aspect of the modulation that gives the Faux Tape Echo pedal a unique function and tone and makes it desirable for people who want their delay tone to sound as good as tape delay units but without all the maintenance, supplies, and hassle. Your all-important fundamental dry tone is 100% analog, too.
So when we say it’s the best of both worlds, we absolutely mean it. From country slap-back to ambient washes to straight-ahead rock and metal delay, the hybrid approach lets Brian make one pedal that can do it all.
The Faux Tape Echo takes everything great about the original, and adds to it that much-requested tap tempo with sub-division functionality that users have been asking for, as well as our well known emulation of the elusive and beautiful character that people look for in classic tape echo units.

A Modern Classic
Some delay pedals are complicated, some are simple… some just give you want you want, where you want it, and they do it beautifully. Warm sounding with 3 sub divisions, tap tempo and a quality of tape emulation that will make your delay lines perfect.
Complete Control
4 sub divisions and tap tempo… It’s easy to get lost in endless sub menus of the big delay units, but if you strip them back, which do you actually use? We’ve taken the most useful and put them there, right on the front so you only need to worry about what’s there.
Perfect Modulation
The beauty of tape emulation is one that doesn’t just sound like someone has stuffed a chorus across the top. You want one that reacts, you want one that sounds organic, you want one that feels like it’s a tape, and that tape is wearing out a little. With the sub divisions and tap tempo, you have the tone AND the control.

I got this delay for a second delay in addition to my Analogman ARDX20, which are hard to get. I was delighted after setting it up. It has a warm analog feel to it due to the signal path and you can dial in just the right amount of tape artifact to the delay signal with the rate and depth controls and adjust the tone of the delay. The tone control lets you put the repeats in the right sonic space for what you’re trying to do. For me, I set it a bit warmer to sit under my direct signal. It’s so easy to dial in what you want. Some delays have way too many options and submenus to get what you want. That makes it a bit frustrating.
What sets this apart from other delays is being able to put it in your amps effects loop. You can’t do that with the ARDX20 or Catalinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe, which I’ve also had. Many delays can’t. The Belle Epoch has a lot of hiss and my amp preamps just magnified that, so I sold it. The FTE has a tiny bit of hiss in front on my amp, but in the loop it’s negligible. It’s a really great delay. I wish it had presets, but the Metaverse does that. I may get one of those too. I’m a delay junkie.

The Wampler Faux Tape Echo v2 is an absolutely fantastic sounding delay that comes packed with every feature one would need from modulation to tap tempo with subdivisions. I picked this particular delay because I really like the sound. If you turn the tone down, there is a slight roll off on lows and highs, giving it a mid forward sound that is not “grunty” like many. If you turn the tone up, it evens out and sounds more like a typical delay.
The modulation on this delay is also really nice. The dynamic responsive modulation works really well if you have an even right hand and sounds really good.
Finally this pedal is very competitively priced to the competition with similar offerings. I liked it’s sound the best of all the ones I tried.

I use still my Faux Tape Echo V1 with Tap Tempo, no subdivisions. But it has all the feature the V2 has.
So for this I use it and love it. Wonder if the V2 has the real good thing to put the Chorus part real out
of the line with a switch like V1 I see it, with V2 and 2 knobs I don’t really know if the Chorus part is real
out… Have fun–

This might be a strange review, but I am a Dj with an analog Mixer. So I was in need of a external effect unit. There are a few out there, but mostly digital multi fx units with lots of shit I do not need. And expensive…
So I walked in the nearest music store and testet a lot of guitar effects. They had no clue what would work and we had to preamp the signal, but when I looped in this tape echo, it just blew my mind. Playing lots of Dub, at first I could not hear anything. Like a lot of other guitareffects, I thought it just doesnt work while djing. But this effect blended so well in the mix, I could only seperate the original studio effects from this unit because I know my tunes well. It is so warm and musical, with exacly the right amount of track alteration I need for djing!
If you are searching for a devise to build rises and change the tune completely, this one is not for you. For me it is perfect and I have never had so much fun djing!
Big up Wampler!
PS: Befor I want to play, I have to steal my Tape Echo back every time from my brothers studio, it is that good 🙂

Without trying to be pushy, but check out the new Metaverse multi delay – the Doctor setting on it is so good for Dub vocals – and it comes as a VST3 and AU plugin so you can make tunes in a DAW with it too…

Simply awesome delay! So many good sounds with this, easy to use and sounds great front loaded into my beloved Orange Rocker 30 which lacks an effects loop but is still my fave amp! Well done Brian and team Wampler!

I’ve been a long time fan of the tape echo delay and other analog delay tones. My DD-3 wasn’t cutting it, then I discovered Wampler made the Faux Tape Echo V2. Subdivisions and tap tempo are so easy to use and the modulation knobs are an excellent touch. This pedal gives me everything I need to really set my leads apart. The delay mix and repeats knobs can give subtle adjustments that make all the difference. Long story short – if you want a warm, vintage delay feel, tap tempo, and a user friendly interface, look no further!

I needed a delay and it was purple lol. Love the way Wampler lets me select 1/4 or rhythmic U2/Edge style delays quickly. Before Terraform came out I would use the mod on this as a chorus (low time/high mix/high depth) now its my delay again. Tap tempo is always helpful. Classic tone and super easy to use.
