This is modern metal. A true modern fire-breather that can melt a thousand faces at your command!
What do you get when Brian Wampler, a man who has built an empire on some of the most respected distortion and overdrive pedals on the market, chases the guitar tone of Ola Englund (The Haunted, Feared, Six Feet Under), one of the world’s most awesome-sounding and instantly identifiable metal guitarists? You get the Dracarys.
This vicious stompbox effortlessly embraces any sub-genre of metal, thanks to its finely tuned EQ and Tight/Open switch. But tap into its decidedly modern soul, and the Dracarys will instantly morph your clean amp into one of the most savage and modern high-gain powerhouses this side of Mr. Englund himself. As Ola puts it, no matter type of high-gain tones you’re looking for, “It can definitely deliver the chug.”
Brian Wampler’s ability to distill the playing experience of a cranked guitar amp into a box that fits on your pedalboard makes him among the premier effects builders in the world. So when he came across the genre-defining tones on Ola Englund’s YouTube channel, the gauntlet was thrown down. He had to create a pedal that contained that same searing gain, percussive low end, unparalleled note clarity. He had to create the Dracarys.
There are almost as many legendary heavy metal guitar tones as there are headbangers, and the Dracarys nails each those tones admirably. But turn up the gain, throw the gain switch to tight, and dial in the EQ and you’ll witness the pedal come alive with the teeth and sheer force that propels today’s most inspired metal guitarists.
All the power
Modern Metal has moved on so much in the last 20 years we HAD to make a pedal that reflected it. It’s not about the gain, well… not completely, it’s about the voicing, the depth, the agression and most importantly, the power. The Dracarys melts faces, but only on your command.
With a signature Wampler 3 band active EQ and two styles of clipping, the Dracarys allows you to breathe all kinds of fire through your rig… But, wait a minute, it works great at lower levels of gain as well? You need a classic rock OD, drop that gain down and be amazed at what you hear!
The complexity of the gain in the Dracarys is what makes it so powerful, it’s not a thick blanket like other pedals, it’s not a fuzz style, it’s the clearest, heaviest and most crushing gain you’ll ever hear… it’s almost enough gain to grant you Swedish residency.

Brian Wampler’s attention to detail and commitment to bringing you the best-sounding & most usable Effects Boxes on the market is nothing new. Those qualities are on full display within the Dracarys Distortion. 2022 purchase still boils the blood and fries the brain. Two humbucker clean amp setup.
I’ve had this pedal for a few years now. And I can honestly say you can’t get better than this! I’m always trying new things out. I just tried airis savage v5, and walrus eras distortion. Well after some serious testing my dracarys STILL is the king of the beasts!! I don’t know how wampler did it,but this pedal will remain in my arsenal!!

If you play any form of metal with a combo amp then you NEED this pedal. Period.
This pedal is capable of covering just about any metal sound you can imagine using the clean channel including modern high gain armageddon without compromising the natural sound of your guitar or any loss of note articulation.
Using a Marshall dsl1 or Blackstar ht20 studio at bedroom friendly volumes creates an outstanding thick wall of sound. Into a closed back cab the sound is even sweeter and to my ears it sounds like tube amp distortion not a flat sound created from a pedal in the chain. No need to run a boost in front of this pedal it delivers as is.
I only wish I had found this pedal sooner, it would have saved me a lot of time and money trying to capture the tone I was in search of.

This pedal is a beast. By far my favorite distortion pedal of all time. Low end thump with no mud. Versatile mid range with no nasal annoyance. Highs are only fizzy at settings past noon. Strings growl in unison vs being smeared together. This is the first distortion pedal I’ve heard that doesn’t immediately sound like a pedal is in front of your amp. It works well with your preamp vs fighting against it. It also doesn’t hide the character of your guitar. Simply amazing feat of engineering. Thank you Wampler.
Wampler Pedals –
Glad you like it and yes – it IS a beast!
This is a seriously high gain pedal, that can deliver the Chug

The Dracarys is finally on my pedalboard !! This is my first Wampler pedal and I have to say that I am really happy with the tones I could quickly dial in. I have an Orange micro dark which is as the name says quite dark. I added an EQ pedal in the FX loop to bring a touch of sparkle and a bit of brightness to my clean and crunch. I was a bit worried that this could make a high gain pedal a bit fizzy. But the Dracarys has quickly blended with my gear for the best. With the switch on Open, the gain around 11 o’clock and a bit of scooped mids, I could dial Metallica Enter Sandman tone. It sounds very close to a Rectifier. The tone is juicy and roaring. No need to over do it with the gain, less is more 🙂 with this same setting, I could get quite close to Descending Lamb of God. A lot of clarity for the main riff and a lot of definition. With the switch on Tight, I have pushed a tiny bit the gain almost 12 o’clock a bit the treble and I entered Machine Head territory close to a 6505. I stacked my Tube Screamer 8 to it and I was really in Metal land !! A lot of sustain, ready for killer riffs such as Imperium or Old. Well I think I have said enougb and I go back playing now 🙂 there is more to extract there.

I recently got this one, but for me it is not a high gain pedal, it sounds more like an overdrive with more punch.
Maybe there is something wrong with my pedal. or I have to add something more in the signal chain???
Incredibly harmonic rich distortion that’s more versatile than I expected. Goes from lower gain crunch to searingly saturated chunky modern gain. Very tweakable and easy to control.
